The much maligned brush tail possum sits waiting for darkness to arrive before its departure to create havoc around litter bins, on suburban roofs and in trees. Yes they also attack veggie gardens and fruit trees for a feed which makes them pests but when all is said and done they are just out for a feed which is their right but not in my back garden… Right!

Last night the extremely talented Chi Canty gave a wonderful recital of music at the Horton Auditorium entitled ‘Born Romantics’ in aid of the Celebral Palsey Alliance. The program included works by Beethoven, John Field and Franz Schubert. All were played exquisitely but the Schubert and the Gershwin encore were exceptional for a young man of his years. We wish him all success for his future…

A silver birch at night seen in a new light.

Recently LauncestonCity Council has seen fit to retrofit the civic centre area out side Launcestons magnificent council house. Along with new plantings and peculiar stainless steel knobbed walls there are new lights, lots of them. I feel sure that council would do the right thing by the environment and install super efficient LED’s but along with the new lights comes a totally different look to the quality of light produced and with it a new opportunity to photograph the area with different results…
