Spanish Bluebells in Prospect

Bluebells in Prospect

Scilla or Spanish Bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica) like the Muscari or Grape Hyacinth can become something of a weed if given the chance which for most people is just a matter of neglect. Leave many bulbs to their own devices and the reproduce exponentially. The Spanish Bluebell is somewhat slow compared to the much smaller Muscari which in Launceston gardens has become a weed plant not in the same proportions as the onion or garlic   flower but it is catching up. The problem is a patch of Grape Hyacinth or Spanish bluebells just looks so lovely I personally procrastinate and say to myself “oh I’ll spray once the flowers have died”  the one way and another it gets put off for another year!
