After several days apart the cygnets are together again with mum and dad! For a while we were quite concerned that something horrible had happened to mum dad and two cygnets as three vunerable cygnets were swimming aimlessly around the First Basin…
We sighted a cat a short distance from the Trevallyn carpark someones pet no doubt but most young and small native animals are at risk from cats so a small cygnet would stand no chance.

Unknown duck...

There are a pair of these ducks swimming around the first basin a little bit larger than a wood duck with an arbitrary splash of white feathers around its neck. I have no idea what specie they are but they seem very content paddling around the basin all day…

Fairy Wren…

Fairy wren skittishly catching insects in mid afternoon

This tiny fairy wren is a skittish creature, he has to be, because from observation it seems like this little males diet consists of flies and mosquitoes which he catches while in flight. On an overcast day his plumage really stands out which is perhaps as well because he took off and landed on the same rock four times each time I exposed a frame while waiting for the best pose.
